    The Menu

    Active: Always.
How to make changes: Menu > Appearance > Menus
    Importance: Important

    Create a new menu:

To create a navigation menu, you need to visit the Appearance » Menus page in your WordPress admin dashboard.

Once you’re there, provide a name for your menu, like ‘Top Navigation Menu’, and then click the ‘Create Menu’ button.

Next, you can choose the pages you want to add to the menu. You can either automatically add all new top-level pages, or you can select specific pages from the left column.

First, click the ‘View All’ tab to see all your site’s pages. After that click the box next to each of the pages you want to add to your menu, and then click on the ‘Add to Menu’ button.

    Moving Menu items:
Once your pages have been added, you can move them around by dragging and dropping them in the ‘Menu Structure’ section.

This way you can change their order and rearrange them.

    Revolution Slider

    Active: Yes.
How to make changes: Menu > Revolution Slider
Importance: Important: this is a visitor’s first view of the site.
    Developer page:

Revolution Slider is an innovative, responsive WordPress slider plugin that can create Image Sliders, Banner Sliders, Hero Sliders, Video Sliders, Carousel Sliders, etc.

The main site is using the paid-for version that allows us to use premium, pre-made templates. The subsites only have the free version so template designs are limited and simple.

    Ajax Search Pro  (“Header Filter”)

    Active: Network active.
How to make changes: Menu > Ajax Search Pro > Ajax Search Pro
    Developer page:
    Importance: critical

This is a must-have plugin that allows for filtering of art images by category, price, orientation (landscape, portrait, square, panoramic) as well as size.

    1. On the main page, it filters every new image that has been ‘fetched’ from the individual subsites.
    2. On the subsites themselves, the filter works pretty much the same way but ONLY for that individual subsite.

This search instance only looks for keywords in a search bar and has no options for size, price, orientation, etc. So, for example, searching for “London” will show results for any images with “London” in the title or image tag.

This also ties in with another plugin called “Woocommerce Image Size and Orientation Field” that is in-house made. This plugin will analyse the size of the image (width and height) and saves it as a custom field in the database. Ajax Search Pro can then be told to look at this field as a filter option.

Ajax Search Pro is a highly customizable, powerful live search engine plugin for WordPress. Created by Ernest Marcinko, this plugin is designed to enhance user experience by providing instant search results as users type their queries, along with advanced filtering options to narrow down results. It replaces the default search widget and introduces a more dynamic and user-friendly search experience.

    Key Features:

    • Live Search: Users get instant results as they type, with fast, asynchronous loading of search suggestions.
    • Customizable Results: Configure the display of search results, including images, excerpts, and custom fields.

    • Keyword Highlighting: Highlights the search terms in the results to help users quickly find what they’re looking for.
    • Integration with Popular Plugins: Compatible with various e-commerce, multilingual, and page builder plugins.
    • Search Analytics: Gain insights into user search behavior, tracking popular search terms and potential areas for content improvement.
    • Caching for Faster Results: Implement caching to speed up search results and reduce server load.
    • Widget and Shortcode Support: Easily add the search form to any part of your website using widgets or shortcodes.
